This Newsday article indicates that inflation worries are not as “well contained” as the Fed has suggested. Though the New York Region Consumer Price Index, which measures the average price of consumer goods and services, rose 3.6 percent over the last year (just above the 2006-2007 annual average of 2.8), the Northeast is seeing a 33.8 percent increase in prices for white flour and a 14 percent increase in prices for white bread.
