Though the New York Region Consumer Price Index, which measures the average price of consumer goods and services, rose 3.6 percent over the last year (just above the 2006-2007 annual average of 2.8), the Northeast is seeing a 33.8 percent increase in prices for white flour and a 14 percent increase in prices for white bread.
