Speaking of birds, this guy got oiled! An oil tanker spilled 58,000 gallons of heavy bunker fuel into the San Francisco Bay a couple of weeks ago. It spread all throughout the bay and along the coast. Over 1,000 birds have been found saturated in oil and hundreds have died.
What’s bunker fuel? It’s fuel oil used on ships and gets its name from the Bunker Tank containers that it is stored in. It tends to be heavier and it doesn’t float, which makes big spills like this one difficult to clean up.
